Marek’s perspective on Frankovka is Burgundian rather than Bordelais. He sees the variety as a red of regal elegance. Poise over power. The mature vines face south and require an entire Summer and part of Fall to fully ripen their fruit. The dynamic volcanic soils influence them in a way where the character of the fruit varies from plant to plant. This dynamism is brought to the cellar and preserved through the delicate and long elevage the wine undergoes. It is a quintessential expression of the variety. A red to sit with and think or to pair with some fresh wild fowl.
