Mtsvane translates as green, it is one of the oldest known grape varieties based on genetics, pre-Christian. At harvest it is wonderfully aromatic, akin to gewurztraminer or muscat. When it is allowed to macerate it transforms like few other varieties. It develops wonderful tea-like aromas reminiscent of bergamot. Beka's is fully amber with a long maceration of skins and stems. Even a gentle sniff gives the impression of something sweet, yet it is beyond dry with tongue sucking tannins and puckering acidity. We often find that the oldest bottles of Gotsa's Mtsvane are the most rewarding as in time it softens and gains elegance without any loss of depth.
